S is for Spider

This week we are learning about spiders and bats

Books we read:












Literacy Center: We made an Itsy Bitsy Spider book. The students decorated the pages. This activity took two days.

This is the back of the book. This is our nursery rhyme this month.
page 4 we used paint and our fingers to make the spider

page 3 we used dot markers to decorate the sun

The cover, we used a spider ring and a bendable straw for the spout.




Spider web
For this activity we rolled a marble dipped in white paint inside a large box lid. We taped the black paper down first and added a spider at the end.




Bats!
We traced hands the first day and put everything together the second day.













Spiders
We painted the small paper plates the first day and added legs, eyes and mouths the second day.

P is for Pumpkin

Books we read:



Math Center

Bury plastic halloween items in sensory table. Have students count the objects as they place them in a plastic pumpkin.
Literacy Center
Students glue the letters of their name on a pumpkin.
Art Center
Paint with mini pumpkins. Cut mini pumpkins, clean out the centers and paint on butcher paper with pumpkins.
Fine Motor Center:
Make jack-o-lantern faces on felt pumpkins.
Art Center
Puff paint pumpkins. Mix equal parts white glue and shaving cream. Color glue with food coloring. Whisk with a wire wisk and add green curled ribbon and a stem.
